Document Description
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (District) is proposing to repaint the exterior of three residences located within District open space preserves: the Thornwood House in Thornwood Open Space Preserve, a multi-family housing structure and associated unattached garage in El Corte De Madera Open Space Preserve, and the Dyer House with an associated accessory structure in La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve. The exterior paint on the structures has weather damage with various sections of paint peeling off. The structures will undergo a thorough preparation process which includes sanding, filling, and power washing with a gentle bleach solution to remove paint and signs of mold and mildew buildup. All paint chip runoff will be carefully collected and disposed of properly. After the preparation process, the structures will be repainted through a combination of spraying, back rolling, and brushing techniques. The Thornwood House will undergo further exterior renovations to address deteriorated wood siding on the front tower of the residence. To improve durability, the wood siding on the front tower will be replaced with a more resilient metal siding. A 2021 Historic Resource Evaluation confirmed that this residence is not eligible for listing in the National Register of Historical Resources or the California Register of Historical Resources.
