Document Description
The City of Redding will construct a protected left turn project at 10 intersections in the Downtown area. Work consists of pavement grinding and dig-outs, striping, sign installation, paving, curb ramp improvements, as well as replacement or retrofit of signal poles, mast arms, standards, and luminaires. The traffic detection loops and cameras will be replaced, and associated electrical components/equipment will be upgraded. The traffic lanes will be reconfigured to accommodate dedicated left turn pockets. Work will be conducted within City right of way; however, temporary construction easements may be needed for access. The public will be notified of the construction activity.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 exemptions include the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing facilities, structures or equipment involving negligible or no expansion of use. Class 2 exemptions consists of replacement or reconstruction where the new structure will be located on the same site and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity. The project involves the modification of existing facilities and the project will result in no expansion of use. The project area has been reviewed for sensitive resources such as threatened or endangered specifies or their habitats, sensitive vegetation communities, tribal lands, or tribal cultural resources. The project has no potential to have a significant effect on the environment.
