Document Description
The majority of these amendments consist of minor technical corrections/adjustments, updating terminology, and providing greater specificity. The ordinance also removes the suspension on SB 1383-compliant solid waste collection service requirements, effective July 1, 2025. Lastly, the ordinance waives the requirement for solid waste collection service in low population density census tracts based on waivers approved by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle). This ordinance will affect all residents in unincorporated Merced County.

This ordinance is exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15061 (b)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the Program amendments may have a significant effect on the environment. Households in low population density census tracts are not currently required to subscribe to solid waste collection service; under this ordinance, service will remain optional in these areas. Thus, there will be no change to existing conditions in these areas.
