Document Description
The El Dorado Irrigation District (District) proposes to rehabilitate an existing 100,000-gallon drinking water storage tank, install booster pump and batteries, remove and relocate communications equipment from the top of the tank, and construct an antenna tower adjacent to the tank. Portions of the existing tank have experienced degradation of the structural steel causing bulging and leaks in some localized areas and are need of rehabilitation. The District will repair the structural steel and install a water tight bladder system within the tank and paint exposed surfaces to match the existing coatings on the tank. Also, the existing communications antenna that is currently mounted to the tank will be relocated to a 30-ft. free-standing antenna structure. The booster pump, batteries, and antenna structure will be placed on a 5-ft. X 8-ft. concrete pad adjacent to the existing tank in a previously disturbed area. The location of the antenna will provide a clear line of site for remote communications equipment connected to the tank. The Project will involve using welding and metal cutting equipment to remove the damaged steel sections of the tank and installation of new structural components. A small crane or mechanical lift would be used to install the interior bladder into the tank. A mini-excavator and concrete hopper will be used to construct a concrete pad to install the new antenna tower, installation of a new exterior control panel for level transducer and solar panel. Construction equipment and materials will be staged onsite within previously disturbed areas. All construction activities will occur within the existing Monte Vista facility. Any construction debris that is removed from the Project area will be disposed of in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The rehabilitation of the tank and communications improvements will not increase or expand drinking water treatment capacity. Work activities would occur during normal business hours Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Project activities are scheduled to begin in January 2025 and will be completed by June 2025.
