Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Routine Maintenance Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-RIV-51496-R6, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Eastern Municipal Water District. The Project is limited to the removal of overgrown, non-native trees and shrubs, limited removal and trimming of native vegetation, and removal of existing encampments and litter adjacent to a residential community. Vegetation removal will occur above-ground to ensure the avoidance of native species root systems. The Project will target non-native species through manual removal (e.g., hand tools, chainsaws, hand saws, loppers, etc.) and use of CDFW-approved herbicides. Trimming of native trees is permitted if the trees are less than 9.5 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH). Removal of any understory must be done at a maximum of 30% of the available native understory vegetation. The remaining 70% of understory may have branches with less than a diameter of 3 inches removed in the lower third section of woody plants and shrubs. Trimmed debris will be disposed of into a dumpster located outside of the bed, bank, and channel of the stream. Once maintenance has been completed, the debris will be transported offsite and properly disposed of at an exterior facility. Routine maintenance activities are expected to be completed once every two years.
