Document Description
Surfnet Communications, proposes to place approximately 10.8 miles of fiber-optic cable on existing aerial facilities in the unincorporated town of Los Gatos, Santa Clara County. The typical height of attachment for the fiber optic cable will be between 20 and 22 feet. Additionally, all poles will be tested to determine the integrity of their cores, and poles failing this test will be reported to Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for remedial action. No ground-disturbing activities would occur.

Reasons for Exemption
Under Decision D. 22-04-055 and under Resolution T-17839 the CPUC Commission determined that these projects planned by Surfnet, would fall within one of several categorical exemptions under CEQA. Section 15301 consists of operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Additionally, 15302 and 15303 consist of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities and new construction or conversion of small structures, respectively.
