Document Description
The Radonich project proposes to serve an estimated 70 unserved locations based on a March 2024 supplemental application filing. An estimated unserved population of 158 would be offered service. An estimated total population of 210 will benefit from these investments in and around the community of Radonich. The last mile fiber project will provide up to one gigabit per second symmetrical service to consumers.
Surfnet will deploy approximately six miles of last mile fiber and three miles of middle
mile and backhaul fiber. The network will be approximately five percent underground.
The specific sections of the project that will be designated last mile or middle mile will
be finalized after detailed engineering and project design.

Reasons for Exemption
Under Decision D. 22-04-055 and Resolution T-17839 the CPUC Commission determined that the Radonich project planned by Surfnet, would fall within one of several categorical exemptions under CEQA. Section 15301 consists of operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Additionally, 15302 and 15303 consist of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities and new construction or conversion of small structures, respectively.
