Reasons for Exemption
15301. Existing Facilities: The installation of soil probes and conduit would be connected to existing stations and installation of soil probes would be considered minor alteration of existing structures/facilities involving negligible expansion of existing use. 15304. Minor Alterations of Land: Collection of soil samples and installation of soil sensors would require minor temporary excavations and considered minor alteration of land with no permanent effects to the environment. 15306: Soil probes and conduit would be installed for the purpose of scientific data collection and would result in temporary, minor ground disturbance. In addition, the proposed action is not anticipated to result in any significant impacts to the environment, including scenic resources, cultural resources, hazardous waste sites, sensitive habitats, or special-status plant or wildlife species.
