Document Description
The Caltrans HQ Maintenance Office of Vegetation and Wildfire Management proposes a vegetation/fire fuel reduction project in response to the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan as implemented by the Governor’s Office in 2021. The proposed undertaking as detailed in this environmental document is valid only for the proposed undertaking on State Route 134 from post miles R8.60 to R11.40, in Los Angeles County. Vegetation/Fire Fuel Reduction activities are limited to areas within Caltrans right-of-way (ROW). No work is authorized beyond this established footprint to avoid impacts to sensitive resources. The scope of work primarily consists of brush removal, defined as grass removal; removal of trees less than ten inches (10”) in diameter as breast height (DBH) and less than twenty feet (20’) in height; slash; and tree/limb removal located up to eight feet (8’) in height. All work will be completed within operational State right-of-way (ROW), and no ROW acquisition or utility relocation are required.
