Document Description
The City of Pico Rivera, in its capacity as a Lead Agency, is renovating an existing community building structure and construction of new facilities which would include new painting and trims in existing spaces. The project would also include the reconfiguration of the existing event center platform and support spaces, offices, aquatic locker and room facilities as well as the relocation of existing meeting room spaces. The construction on the project site would include a 3,315 square foot pool mechanical building, a 1,612 square foot addition of aquatic center facilities and offices, expansion of existing community center restroom facilities to be ADA compliant, and a 2,300 square foot expansion of the existing community center for relocation for competitive pool support facilities. The overall project proposes an additional 4,000 square foot of building area to the existing 13,000 square foot community and aquatic center for a total of 17,000 square foot, the proposed 3,315 square foot pool mechanical building, and a 785 square foot exterior storage enclosure, a demolition of the single pool to be replaced with two pools, and grinding, refinishing and restriping of the existing parking lot. The project site is located within Smith Park on the northern corner. The project site's zoning designation is Open Space (O-S).

The project is consistent with the applicable General Plan designation and all applicable General Plan policies as well as with applicable zoning designation and regulations. The proposed undertaking would occur within the City limits on a project site of not more than five acres that is substantially surrounded by urban uses. The project site has no value as habitat for endangered, rare, or threatened species. The approval of the project would not result in any significant effects relating to traffic, noise, air quality, or water quality. The site can be adequately served by all required utilities and public services.
