Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved the Landscape Restoration and Rehydration Project submitted by Jesse Smith, White Buffalo Land Trust. The Project includes activities that will enhance native habitat through uplift of wetlands, native seeding, riparian buffer planting, and erosion control. Habitat complexity will be increased by creating a keyline pond that retains water on the landscape and allows for increased infiltration. The Project area will be seeded with native vegetation and the existing riparian zone will be enhanced through planting of riparian species. Establishment of native tree and shrub species in the Project area will increase cover for wildlife species and increase biodiversity. Specifically, the Project will provide a net benefit to Crotch’s Bumblebee (Bombus crotchii; California Endangered Species Act candidate species) through the planting of native flowering plants that offer foraging opportunities. The Project is 4.74 acres and 447 linear feet of stream bank.
