Document Description
Sonoma County Public Infrastructure will repair a bank failure on Wohler Road approximately 0.1 miles north of River Road. Rain events occurring in December 2024 caused erosion and bank slip out of approximately 80 linear feet up to the edge of pavement of Wohler Road in the community of Forestville. This project consists of installation of rock slope protection to stabilize the bank and maintain the integrity of the roadway. Work will occur outside flowing water and only above ordinary high-water elevation. Erosion and sediment control BMPs will be used and installed.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is statutorily exempt pursuant to Section 15269 [Emergency Projects]. Section 15269 (b) exempts an emergency repair to publicly owned facilities necessary to maintain service essential to the public safety or welfare; ( c) specific actions necessary to prevent or mitigate an emergency; ( d) a project approved by a public agency to maintain, repair, or restore an existing highway damaged by fire, flood, storm, earthquake, land subsidence, gradual earth movement, or landslide, provided that the project is within the existing right of way of that highway and is initiated within one year of the damage occurring. The proposed project is categorically exempt pursuant to Sections 15301 [Existing Facilities] and 15302 [Replacement or Reconstruction]. Section 15301 (c) exempts the repair or minor alteration of existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities. Section 15302 (c) exempts the replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems and /or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. No exceptions listed under Section 15300.2 apply. There is no reasonable possibility that the project would have a significant effect on the environment.
