Document Description
The City of Redding will implement a lighting improvement project at 18 intersections in Redding. The project will install approximately 37 new street lights, 3 decorative street lights, and retrofit 2 existing street lights. Conduit, conductors, pull boxes, and associated electrical equipment will also be installed. Work will involve minor vegetation removal, trenching, excavation, concrete installation, paving, and striping. All work will be conducted within City right of way, and the public will be notified of the construction activity.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 exemptions include the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing facilities, structures, or equipment involving negligible or no expansion of use. Class 2 exemptions consists of purpose and capacity. Class 3 exemptions consist of construction and location of limited numbers of new small facilities and equipment, or conversion of existing structures. The project involves the installation of limited numbers of new street lights, as well as the reconstruction or conversion of existing facilities and equipment. The project will be constructed within the existing right of way and will result in negligible expansion of use. The project area has been reviewed for sensitive resources such as threatened or endangered specifies or their habitats, sensitive vegetation communities, tribal lands, or tribal cultural resources. The project has no potential to have a significant effect on the environment.
