Reasons for Exemption
CE Class II exempts “replacement of existing utility systems and/or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity,” which is consistent with the proposed Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Upgrade Project. The exceptions to the issuance of categorical exemptions have been evaluated for the proposed project activity. The proposed project was determined to be located on the same sites and have the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. Therefore, this proposed action is not expected to cause any potential for significant adverse environmental impacts and qualifies with the CEQA requirements for Class II exemption.
