This 1.36-acre project will create habitat for the federally threatened Hermes Copper Butterfly by installing patches of redberry buckthorn (Rhamnus crocea), a critical host plant for the larval stage of this butterfly species, throughout the site along the chaparral hillside. Other native species will also be planted throughout these patches to benefit pollinators and wildlife. Additionally, several native riparian trees will be planted along a creek that runs through the property to expand riparian forest habitat. (WCB Project Tracker ID: 2022065).
