Document Description
The Project site is located in the City of Suisun City in a residential area west of Suisun Slough. Specifically, the Project site includes portions of Kellogg Street, Maple Street, and School Street, which are within the City of Suisun City’s right-of-way. The Project site also includes undeveloped/unpaved areas within two City-owned parcels (APNs 032-245-160, 032-245-200) and limited work on one parcel owned by the Suisun Wildlife Center (APN 032-245-190). The Project site is generally surrounded by single family residences to the north; brackish/salt marsh to the west; the Suisun Wildlife Center, ruderal grasslands and brackish/salt marsh to the south; and the Suisun City municipal boat launch and parking lot to the east.
The Project site is situated in a residential area in Suisun City on the northern outskirts of the Suisun Marsh. The Project site consists of a stormwater detention basin and existing engineered embankment located near the southern terminus of Kellogg Street, the downstream stormwater pump station, and portions of the surrounding neighborhood. The stormwater detention basin is intended to collect stormwater from School Street, Maple Street, Long Street, Walnut Street, and Elwood Street, which comprise the neighborhood drainage area. The Project site area is becoming increasingly susceptible to environmental hazards as a result of climate change, including sea level rise, flooding, and wildfires. The primary purpose of the Project is to rehabilitate existing stormwater infrastructure to address flood risks for the surrounding community, improve stormwater infrastructure reliability, improve water quality, and increase wildfire resilience. The Project would implement various improvements including rehabilitating mechanical equipment associated with the Kellogg pump station, installing green stormwater infrastructure at various locations throughout the Project site, constructing a fire vehicle access road along the southern side of the stormwater detention basin, replacing damaged fencing along the northern side of the stormwater detention basin, and removing invasive species within and around the basin and revegetating the area with native, fire-resistant species. The Project would also replace the existing pavement at the intersection of Maple Street and School Street and reconstruct and repave the southern terminus of School Street, as well as update pedestrian facilities to be in in compliance with standards established by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
