The Federal Transit Administration (FTA), working in partnership with Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), is proposing improvements at the El Monte station to create a mobility hub in the city of El Monte, California (Project). The Project would support safe and convenient transfers between transportation modes, facilitate first-/last-mile connections to transit, and ensure equitable travel options for those with limited mobility choices.

The Project qualifies for a Categorical Exemption under CEQA Section 15301 as a Class 1 project. The Project proposes improvements to the existing El Monte intermodal station. Improvements to existing facilities include bus station enhancements, high-visibility crosswalks, new pedestrian lighting, public open space, new and infill drought-tolerant shade trees and landscaping, solar panels, new shade canopies and wayfinding, and new furnishings, wi-fi, and device charging docks.
