Reasons for Exemption
CEQA’s Class 1 exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, and minor alterations of existing facilities, with negligible or no expansion of use (CEQA Guidelines §15301.). The subject requests to extend the permissible dates for live entertainment, which does not involve any physical expansion of the existing building. The subject request does not involve any new building square footage, and the proposal involves only minor alterations to the operation of the existing facility. Therefore, the proposed project is exempt from CEQA.
