The project location is all within the county boundary of Marin. The project will take 18 months to complete. This is a Last-mile project. It is a Fiber To The Premise (FTTP) Project that will establish two distribution points adjacent to the GOLDENSTATENET route along HWY 1 and construct a dedicated fiber strand to deliver Active Ethernet access from those serving locations to the unserved properties within the project boundaries.
The primary central office location will be at the Marin County Fire Department, Tomales Fire Station property, 599 Dillon Beach Road, Tomales, CA 94971. This installation will serve the 410 Dillon Beach and 131 Tomales unserved addresses. A second serving location will be located adjacent to Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department facility, 1760 Shoreline Hwy, Muir Beach, CA 94965. This will be a small micro shelter or cabinet installation that will support the 153 unserved properties in Muir Beach.
The project will deploy some 18 miles of outside plant, including 17.8 miles of underground mainline fiber cable with strand counts between 12 and 864 fibers inside 19.7 miles of 1.25” and 2” SDR-11 HDPE fiber duct installed inside 16.4 miles of the ROW. A total of 509 underground vaults varying in size will be installed to provide access, slack storage, and to house the splice enclosures and the multiport service terminals. A total of 29.3 miles of pre-connectorized single fiber drop cable will be installed from the service terminal ports to the side of the serviceable locations and terminated in a slack storage box on the side of the structure.
This project will install a prefabricated 10’ x 20’ aggregate Telcom shelter and a small micro shelter or cabinet with appropriate environmental controls set on a foundation with diesel backup generators on already developed and in use county parcels. All above ground and underground installations will be performed inside the county’s already developed urban boundaries.
