Document Description
The purpose of the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Program is to assist residents of the impoverished, unincorporated community of Niland, California, who lost their homes due to a five-alarm fire in June 2020 . The County of Imperial will implement a CDBG CV2 &CV3 Colonia's Allocation, Housing Rehab for up to 33 homes in the Niland Colonia. The program will assist low-income homeowners with funds to rehabilitate/replace homes destroyed in the fire, specifically along 3rd St., 4th St., and International Boulevard .

The CDBG CV2 & CV3 Colonias Allocation, Housing Rehab is a reconstruction program that aims to rebuild up to 33 homes affected by the five-alarm fire from back in June 2020. Said project is exempt by a Class 1 Categorical Exemption (15301) considering that this will be a restoration/rehabilitation of existing deteriorated or damaged structures, facilities, or mechanical equipment to bring the affected properties back into their original state and assure compliance with current standards of public health and safety (15301-D). This project is also considered to
be exempt under Categorical Exemption 15302, Class 2, given the specific condition that the project intention is to replace or reconstruct an existing structure or facility where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced.
