Document Description
The City of Pico Rivera is developing its Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) to establish a comprehensive framework for addressing communitywide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhancing resilience to climate change. The CAAP aims to align with California Senate Bill 32, which sets a statewide GHG emissions reduction target of 40% below 1990 levels by 2030. This target is consistent with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and serves as a qualified GHG emissions reduction strategy under regional and state guidelines. To achieve this goal, Pico Rivera's CAAP outlines targeted actions across six focus areas: buildings and energy, transportation and land use, materials and consumption, natural systems, water resources, and community resilience and well-being. These strategies are designed to be ambitious yet achievable through City-supported initiatives and community partnerships. By implementing the CAAP, the City is committed to fostering a sustainable and resilient future for all residents.
