Document Description
To remove and replace the existing 11-span, 169-foot-long timber stringer trestle dual-track bridge (Segment C, No. 175.24) at the northern approach, with a 7-span, 204-foot-long, prestressed concrete box (PCB) girder bridge (Segments C and D). The proposed Segment C will consist of a single 24-foot-long beam span between the northern most existing Segment C pier and the southernmost new Segment D bent. The proposed Segment D will be 180-foot long, consisting of six 30-foot prestressed concrete box (PCB) girder spans. The replacement structure will consist of seven new bents, including one abutment bent. Each bent consists of one row of three 20-inch-diameter steel pipe piles, requiring a total of 21 piles. 11 of the existing timber pilings will be removed.

Further, none of the exceptions to the exemption in CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15300.2 apply.

The project is statutorily exempt under the provisions of CEQA and the State CEQA Guidelines. The Board’s approval involves issuing an encroachment permit for replacement of an existing railroad bridge that is related to the institution or increase of passenger or commuter service of rail lines already in use, which is exempt under the statutory exemption of the CEQA Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(10) and CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15275(a).
