Reasons for Exemption
Prior to any action being taken for this request, the Planning and Economic Development Department staff has determined that the project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the City’s CEQA Guidelines. The project qualifies for a Class 1 Exemption under State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 – Existing Facilities, which allows for the leasing and minor additions and alterations of existing public and private facilities. The project scope is to install new wireless telecommunications equipment on the rooftop of an existing commercial building within the Corridor 1 (CO1) zone. Staff finds that there is no substantial evidence that the project will have a significant effect on the environment. The Planning and Economic Development Director has reviewed staff’s determination for exemption, and based on their own independent judgment, concurs with the determination for exemption.
