Document Description
Caltrans proposes a Minor B project to upgrade the existing Metal Beam Guard Rail (MBGR) along I-5 within the City of Lemon Grove in San Diego County. The proposed MBGR to be upgraded is located at the start of the Eastbound SR-94 Off Ramp to Massachusetts Ave. Approximately 87.5’ of MBGR will be removed and replaced with a new Concrete Guardrail (CG) system which will extend approx. 200’ from the Undercrossing bridge rail. The new CG will be installed in front of the existing MBGR and AC dike. A portion of the AC dike near the bridge will have to be removed. They will also incorporate a 1-foot compacted hinge adjacent to the CG which will require saw cutting into the existing pavement. The depth will only reach 10” will not extend to the soil underneath. No ground disturbance is required. All work will be within Caltrans Right of Way. Environmental Commitments are contained in the ECR.
