Document Description
The Palm Desert Operations Switchboard Upgrade project (Project) consists of removing and replacing a switchboard supplying power to the Coachella Valley Water District’s (CVWD) Operation’s Building and Service Station. The old switchgear will be replaced with a new switchboard with upgraded circuit breaker protection with ground fault protection, an integrated automatic transfer switch, generator refurbishment, a manual transfer switch, and provisions for CVWD electric vehicle charging. The generator refurbishment will be done by a certified Caterpillar repair company and will provide updated electrical control devices, engine heater, new coolant, new engine water/coolant thermostat, and associated hoses and belts. This will not change the emissions or brake horsepower of the engine. The work done on the generator engine will not require a new permit from the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The project is anticipated to take place over the course of 1 month. No road closures or ground disturbance activities will take place, all work will take place on CVWD property. CVWD property site is located in rural residential areas and is not within a conservation area of the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (CVMSHCP).
