Document Description
On March 21, 2024, CDFW issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) of FGC Sections 1602 and 5650 for unauthorized activities conducted in the Upper North Fork Mattole and mainstem Mattole rivers, including instream grading and excavation, gravel extraction, and riparian habitat destruction. This Project shall be conducted to resolve the NOV through the remediation and rehabilitation of the site. Work for the Project will include the implementation of the September 2024 Burrel Road Restoration Plan prepared by Native Ecosystems, Inc. Work also includes rock armoring the inlets and outlets of two (2) culvert crossings, and rocking the associated road approaches.

The project is necessary to assure the maintenance, restoration, or enhancement of a natural resource where the regulatory process involves procedures for the protection of the environment. There would be no significant adverse impact on endangered, threatened, or rare species or their habitat pursuant to §15065. There are no hazardous materials at or around the project site that may be disturbed or removed. The project will not result in impacts that are significant when viewed in connection with the effects of past projects, the effects of other current projects, and the effects of probable future projects.
