Document Description
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) proposes to implement pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements on Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place between McAllister and Grove streets (project). The project would upgrade the existing Class II bike lanes to Class IV separated, parking protected bikeways that connect to the existing separated bike lanes north and south of the project area on Polk Street. To accommodate the improvements the project would convert back-in angled parking on the east side of Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place to parallel parking and remove one of the two southbound travel lanes between McAllister Street and the mid block crossing on Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place. The project would also include concrete protected corners for people riding bicycles at the intersections of Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place with McAllister and Grove streets. New islands at the mid block crossing in front of City Hall would improve pedestrian safety. The project would also repave Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place between the intersections of McAllister and Grove streets.
