Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes constructing a left turn channelization for Northbound (NB) State Route 29 (SR 29) traffic turning onto C St. in Lake County from postmile (PM) 17.6 to 18.0. Additionally, a refuge lane will be added for the vehicles turning left from C St. onto NB SR 29. To Accommodate these changes, the roadway will be widened in both the NB and Southbound (SB) directions. The project also includes pavement delineation and minor drainage improvements. The Purpose of this project is to enhance safety and decrease the frequency and severity of collisions along this segment of SR 29. The project is needed because within the project limits, the collision rates on SR 29 is higher than the statewide average. From January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020, there were multiple “Multi-Vehicle” and “Rear End” collisions on this segment resulting in injuries and fatalities.
