Document Description
In July and August of 2024, The Park Fire ravaged the landscape of Tehama County burning over 400,000 acres. As a result, large woody debris and biomass has accumulated in majority of the ephemeral streams/creeks within the Park Fire Footprint One such creek is Paynes Creek located parallel to Hwy 36 East of Red Bluff City. Paynes Creek area burned north of the Plum Creek Bridge and has created a vicarious situation in which Post Fire, wood and debris accumulation at the bridge will make the community extremely susceptible to flooding and impede the only ingress/egress route for this small rural WUI community. The Paynes Creek Post Park Fire Cleanup aims to conduct fuels reduction work and cleanup of Paynes Creek in order to protect this community.
