Document Description
The Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) San Luis Field Division will install four metal bollards around an existing air vent check valve in the DWR right of way. The valve allows air pressure to be relieved from an existing California Aqueduct water line; the bollards are needed to protect the valve from being damaged by vehicles driven by people trespassing in the right of way. The bollards will be spaced two feet away from the valve and up to five feet away from each other to create a barrier around the valve. To install the bollards, a backhoe with an auger attachment will drill approximately seven-inch diameter by three-foot deep holes. A six-inch diameter by seven-foot long bollard will be installed in each hole. Concrete will be poured in the holes once the bollard has been installed. Material excavated from the holes will be spread onsite and compacted and contoured to match the original grade. The State Water Project will benefit.
