Document Description
The Project will install a new pier structure in the backyard of a residential waterfront property located at 4916 Ranch Road in the Town of Tiburon, Marin County (37.917143; -122.480169). The Project purpose is to construct a new pier that will support a boat lift and will be utilized for recreation purposes in the San Francisco Bay (Bay).
Project activities will include the following:
1. A new 900 square foot (sq ft) pier supported by eight, 14-inch-diameter steel piles will be constructed in the Bay from a crane-mounted barge. All new decking will be designed to incorporate a minimum of 40 percent light transmittance with half-inch deck spacing. Additional structures will include three-foot-tall stainless steel cable guardrails and concrete stairs (built upland) for pier access. Non-treated wood and materials will be used for the pier construction to prevent chemical leaching into the Bay.
2. The 14-inch-diameter pier piles will be installed during low tide periods utilizing only a vibratory hammer from the barge. All vessels used will maintain a minimum 18-inch clearance at all times above the Bay substrate with the barge avoiding any adverse grounding impacts to benthic habitat.
3. An 80 sq ft new, aluminum boat lift will be attached to the pier, constructed and supported by two, aluminum10-inch h-piles. The boat lift will include two vertical track beams for the platform lift and a prefabricated ladder for access.
No mapped eelgrass beds are present within 150 feet of the Project site, based on the April 25, 2022, eelgrass survey. All in-water work will be conducted within the June 1 through November 30 work window.
