Document Description
A General Plan Amendment (GPA2019-4) to update the Safety Element and incorporate a new Environmental Justice Element. The Safety and Environmental Justice Element (Element) will address a number of statutory requirements imposed by state legislation as well as planning and fire best practices addressing flooding, wildfires, emergency evacuation, climate change, and environmental justice.
The Element will address public safety and provide updated goals, objectives and policies to minimize injuries, loss of life, and property damages resulting from natural and human-induced safety hazards. Additionally, the Element will include new goals, objectives, and policies to minimize pollution and its effects on communities.
This document serves as an update to the Santee General Plan's Safety Element and incorporates a new Environmental Justice Element. The Safety and Environmental Justice Element (Element) is integral to guiding future development in Santee as it addresses public safety concerns and provides goals and policies to minimize public safety hazards. The Element does not propose specific development. Future development proposals would require project-specific CEQA review.
