Document Description
Replace existing manual cleaning debris screens with self-cleaning debris screens.
The project includes replacing the existing, debris removal screens on the Folsom South Canal Connection (FSCC) intake pipe with new self-cleaning screens. The project site is located at East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EB MUD) Clay Station Pumping Plant (Clay Station), part of the FSCC system, EBMUD's alternative water source off the Sacramento River. Algae growth occurs on the surface of the water in the canal, which is then captured by the screens located on the opening of the FSCC intake pipe. The existing screens require routine, and at times around the clock, cleaning to keep them clear of vegetation. This results in significant labor resources and is also a safety hazard. The replacement screens are equipped with a self-cleaning mechanism, thus an upgrade from the current type of screen that requires
manual cleaning.
