The project will place two gateway monuments identifying the historic district of the town of Freeport. One monument will be placed on each side of Freeport Blvd. Both monuments will be located outside of Caltrans' right of way. One historic interpretative sign would be placed to feature the community's historic identity.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 3 consists of construction and location of limited number of new, small structures. The project consists of the placement of two monument signs and one interpretative sign along Highway 160. Therefore, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA. Section 15300.2 provides conditions under which categorical exemptions are inapplicable. Review of the Project indicates that it will not violate any of the exceptions.
