Document Description
The project proposes to replace the existing Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) pipeline and associated equipment in-kind. The new pipe material will be steel with poly wrapping. The construction activities will consist of removing the existing pipeline, installing a positive closure device on the waterside hinge, installing the new pipeline, backfilling around and under with Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM), and performing soil compaction and pipe leakage testing. The replacements will occur within the original footprint. Construction activities will require clearing and grubbing of existing vegetation in the work area and involve ground disturbance by heavy equipment and concrete trucks along the levee crown and slopes. The access road will be replaced in kind. Excavation to the levee will occur to a depth of 3.2 ft below the design water surface elevation and will be backfilled with approved fill or native material placed in 4” to 6” lifts and compacted to a relative compaction of 90%.
