Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project consists of the replacement of the existing landscaping and irrigation systems along the Sierra Highway Bike Path on the east side of Sierra Highway between Avenue J and Avenue M. The updated landscaping and irrigation would be water efficient/drought tolerant and consistent with other landscaping installed on city-owned property providing a cohesive look. The existing bike path is not located along a scenic highway or on a hazardous waste site; does not contain historical resources and would not create significant or cumulative impacts to any identified environmental resources. No healthy, mature trees would be removed as part of the project. The replacement of the irrigation system would not result in an increase or expansion of capacity and would provide irrigation only to the landscaping along the existing bike path.
