Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
CEQA Guidelines Section 15301
Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, Existing Facilities, of Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations. This section applies to projects that consist of minor alterations of existing, private structures involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency’s determination, such as an addition to a structure provided the addition will not result in an increase of more than 50% of the floor area of the structure before the addition, or 2,500 square feet, whichever is less. The State of California has determined that these types of projects will not have any significant environmental impacts. The project qualifies for the above-described categorical exemption, because the project consists of an addition of a new covered entry for the existing single-family residence that involves a negligible expansion of the existing use, and the addition will not result in an increase of more than 50% of the floor area of the structure before the addition or 2,500 square feet. Additionally, none of the exceptions set forth in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 are applicable.
