Document Description
This project aims to provide training (FFII) to Tehama and Glenn County Agency Personnel (RCD’s). The proposed project location is at the US Forest Service Admin area located at the south portion of East Sand Slough – Inland in a non Wetland or Riparian Area, which was previously a spoil site during the construction of East Sand Slough Side Channel Project components will include “cutting line” – a strip of bare dirt or mineral soil that Firefighters create to stop the spread of fire. The line is typically 6” to 3ft. wide depending on the slope. Additional component training will be “digging hole” for file shelter. Digging hole that is ~20cm deep. Hole and line will be infilled post training to original state with no difference in landscape before and post training. Anticipated project date(s): October 15-17 2024.

Reasons for Exemption
The program qualifies as a class 4 Categorical Exemption as Project work will consist of minor reductions in landscape within Tehama County project location including (f) Minor trenching and backfilling where the surface is restored.. During the preparation of this Notice of Exemption, the California Natural Diversity Database was checked for both State and Federally listed species. Although listed species may be present within Project areas, impacts to these plants and animals will be limited as vegetation treatments will not be conducted to a degree that will result in their reduction. no impacts to raptors or other avian species are anticipated. All permanent and seasonal streams flowing through project treatment areas will be protected by no treatment buffers.
