Document Description
Caltrans proposes a Minor B HM4 Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) project on State Route (SR) 39 at various cross streets in the cities of Hunting Beach, Westminster, Stanton, Garden Grove, Anaheim and Buena Park in Orange County. Project work consists of removing/replacing existing Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push buttons mounted on existing traffic poles with new touchless APS pushbuttons. The purpose of the project is to upgrade APS pushbuttons at existing traffic signal intersections to adhere to the public Right of way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). The need of the project is due to current existing traffic signals not up to PROWAG official federal standards for public streets. Cross streets include Pacific View Ave, Atlanta Ave, Indianapolis Ave, Adams Ave, Yorktown Ave, Garfield Ave, Main/Elis, Talbert Ave, Newman Ave, Slater, Warner Ave, Terry Dr, Heil Ave, MacDonald Dr, Stark Ave, Edinger, Center Ave, McFadden, Bolsa Ave, Hazard Ave, 13th St., Westminster, Trask Ave, 22 E/B On/Off Ramps, 22 W/B On/Off Ramps, Garden Grove Blvd, Acacia, Lampson Ave, Chapman, Orangewood, Katella Ave, Cerritos Ave, 91 E/B Off Ramp, 91 W/B Off Ramp, 9th St, 5 SB On/Off Ramp, Manchester (Auto Center Dr), Commonwealth Ave, and Artesia Blvd. All conduits and conductors are existing and will be reused. All wiring will be done inside existing cabinets and poles. No trenching, utility relocation, revegetation, or ground disturbance anticipated. No construction equipment staging expected. Estimated Disturbed Soil Area (DSA) for this project is less than one acre. No stage construction or lane closures are anticipated. The project is State funded only. Part of this project falls within the coastal zone in the City of Huntington Beach. All work will occur in Caltrans ROW. No new ROW is required.
