Document Description
The goal of this project is to increase habitat for birds and pollinators and restore the oak savanna plant community that historically would have been on this property. This project will establish a 735 ft long native plant hedgerow and establish oak trees on the property. The establishment of native vegetation will add diversity in the species and structure of the plants in the area which will increase food and shelter for birds, insects, and mammals that frequent the area. Activities will include adding compost and mulch to the area prior to planting, planting native shrubs, forbs, and trees, installing temporary fences and caging to protect plants while they become established, installing irrigation for native plantings, removing/controlling invasive plant species using manual methods (hand pulling, hand tools), and conducting plant establishment monitoring and photo monitoring of the habitat restoration site. Total project area is 3.02 acres.
