The proposed project activities include: 21 replacements of repair pile wraps to existing timber piles, three new 15" diameter concrete piles cast onto 48" diameter x 4-ft. tall new concrete bases, one new 15" diameter concrete pile jetted into the sandy seabed and one new 5-ft. x 11-ft. x 5-ft. tall concrete base encasement for twin 36" square damaged existing concrete piles. The purpose of the project is to replace and repair decaying timber piles and repair pile wraps to improve the safety and structural integrity of the wharf. The beneficiaries of the project are the City of Monterey.

The project involves replacing 21 pile wraps to existing timber piles, casting three new 15" diameter concrete piles onto new concrete bases, one new concrete pile jetted into the sand, and one new concrete base to encase two damaged existing concrete piles. The project includes restoring or rehabilitating deteriorated or damaged structures through the replacements and adds additional supports to the existing structure which will result in a net increase of 67.5 square feet, or 8.2%, to the existing impact areas. The project activities are categorically exempt per Class 1.
