Document Description
To replace the existing Union Pacific Railroad Bridge at Mile Post 101.25, Sacramento Subdivision, that crosses Pixley Slough. The existing bridge is a 3-span timber stringer ballast deck (TST-BD) bridge, 43-feet-long with a 16-foot-wide deck. The proposed replacement bridge is a single span, 52-feet-long with a 17-foot-wide deck, 42-inch-deep prestressed concrete box bridge, with erosion control riprap at the abutments.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt from CEQA under the Class 1, Existing Facilities categorical exemption (CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15301), because the activity consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use. No expansion of existing or former use will occur. In addition, the project is exempt from CEQA under the Class 2, Replacement or Reconstruction categorical exemption (CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, 15302), because the activity consists of replacement and reconstruction of an existing structure in the same site and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the replaced structure. Further, none of the exceptions to the exemption in CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15300.2 apply.
