Reasons for Exemption
The project includes renovating the ground floor and second floor bathrooms and breakrooms of City Hall. Pursuant to Title 14 of the California Code of regulations, Chapter 3, Guidelines for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the project qualifies as a Class 1 categorical exemption under section 15301 of the CEQA guidelines. Class 1 provides exemption for the operation, repair, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures/facilities involving little or no expansion of use. None of the exceptions specified in section 15300.2 of CEQA guidelines would apply that would preclude the use of this CEQA exemption. The project will not have a significant effect on the environment; therefore, this project is a class 1 project that is categorically exempt per section 15301 of the CEQA guidelines and will not result in significant adverse effects on the environment.
