Document Description
The goal of this project is to repair damage and improve the Pioneer Tree Trail within Samuel P. Taylor State Park to allow for continued use of the trail by park visitors. Crews will:
•Reshape the trail tread;
•Reconstruct four (4) existing switchbacks and 8,317 linear feet of Pedestrian/Equestrian trails;
•Construct a minor reroute on the eastern segment of the trail to bring the trail higher on the hillside andallow for sheet flow drainage and proper switchback construction;
•Improve four (4) existing interpretive panels and four (4) trail side benches ;
•Remove four (4) existing culverts and headwalls and construct five (5) trail bridges and two (2)puncheons to support natural drainage into Lagunitas Creek; and
•Construct a boardwalk at the site of the Pioneer Tree, near the existing interpretive panel.
