Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace two Traffic
Management Systems (TMS) and two Changeable Message Signs (CMS) in Merced
County on Interstate (I) 5 at Postmile (PM) 20.07 and in Tuolumne County on State Route 108 at PM R0.49. The scope of work includes replacing all electronic components of the existing CMS Type 500 to CMS Type 700 and replacing all existing loops and 334LS Controller Cabinets of the TMS at both locations. All work will be done within Caltrans Right of Way. The purpose of the project is to ensure the Traffic Management Center has reliable real-time live video feed of roadway, traffic, and weather conditions within the project limits. The project is needed to improve mobility of the traveling public.
