Document Description
The Carrington Ranch prescribed fire is a 7.2-acre controlled broadcast burn known as the Out & Back burn unit. The burn unit is in coastal prairie/scrub/wet meadow habitat. Goals of the burn include reducing fuels, reducing thatch layer, enhancing native plant and animal habitat, and reducing shrub cover to prevent the conversion of coastal prairie grassland to coyote brush scrub. The burn will occur during an appropriate weather window and in accordance with an approved Burn Plan and Smoke Management Plan. The area may be reburned in part or full at an appropriate fire return interval. Control lines will be a combination of existing roads and mowed handlines. The burn will occur outside of bird nesting season. Ground disturbance will be minimal and limited to areas determined to have no impact to sensitive resources.
