Document Description
The project would perform restoration activities in areas which burned at moderate to high severity. The project predominantly consists of high severity burns with little to no remaining live conifer species. Project activities include approximately 950 acres of: (1) Planting -One hundred to two hundred trees per acre would be planted in clusters and rows. Tree Species -Species to be planted will include ponderosa pine, Jeffrey pine, Douglas-fir, incense cedar and rust-resistant sugar pine. (2) Release -Targeted herbicide applications for pre-emergent and release treatments using backpack sprayers. Treatments will be done to reduce brush competition to improve seedling survival and growth. Project area consists of distinct units on private lands in Plumas County, in areas which burned in 2021 Dixie and Beckwourth Complex fires. Project would remove burned and dead vegetation including standing trees and shrubs, manually plant conifer seedlings, and utilize chemical treatments for brush control.
