Document Description
This project will transform an existing child-care facility campus into a shaded and welcoming play yard for the students at Saint Vincent's Day Home. Project goals are to effectively organize the programmatic elements of the schoolyard while also providing flexible spaces for students to gather, play, learn, grow. The project will plant 35 trees that will increase shade for students and teachers. Trees will be primarily 15 gallon and 24" box trees. This project will have no significant environmental impacts to the site. Tree holes will be dug by hand, and only, if necessary, may utilize a small backhoe to dig highly compacted soils for the new trees. Excavation for all other surfacing changes will be limited to 8"-10" of excavation. The install of an upgraded drip-irrigation system will be primarily by hand with localized trenching. Construction will cause some temporary and period impacts; these include modest construction noise and limited dust. Construction best practice management systems will be implemented to mitigate the noted impacts.
