Document Description
Santa Paula Unified District will transition two early childhood schoolyards into nature-based childhood development spaces. Project activities will include the removal of approximately 17,500 square feet of concrete/asphalt, removal of approximately 35,000 square feet of underutilized turf, installation of 4,050 square feet of permeable pavement, installation of 10,300 square feet of decomposed granite, 8 garden beds, nature play/learning areas, planting of 56 #15 drought tolerant and low maintenance trees, drought tolerant landscaping, water-efficient irrigation, and stormwater landscape gardens and infrastructure.

This project meets the requirements of Class 4 Categorical Exemption (Minor Alterations to Land) Section 15304. Project implementation will result in alterations to the land that are best described as minor in scope. It has been concluded that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant adverse environmental impacts will occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forest resources, air quality, biological water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, populations and housing, public services, recreation, transportation and traffic, utilities and service systems, or wildfires risk. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on the file at CAL FIRE's Headquarters in Sacramento.
