Document Description
CANV will implement a green schoolyard project at one preschool site. Project activities will include the removal of 302 square feet of concrete, removal of 400 square feet of non-essential concrete, planting of 14 #15 trees and a mix of 20-50 plants and shrubs, 3,000 square feet of permeable surfaces installed to improve campus accessibility and promote access to outdoor learning spaces, creation of outdoor garden spaces suitable for learning, water-efficient irrigation, and installation of fencing to support outdoor learning spaces. Tree species will be drought tolerant and low maintenance.

Reasons for Exemption
This project meets the requirements of Class 4 Categorical Exemption (Minor Alterations to Land) Section 15304. Project implementation will result in alterations to the land that are best described as minor in scope. It has been concluded that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant adverse environmental impacts will occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forest resources, air quality, biological water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, populations and housing, public services, recreation, transportation and traffic, utilities and service systems, or wildfires risk. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on the file at CAL FIRE's Headquarters in Sacramento.
